TIGER ENCOUNTERS
at Tiger! Tiger! Gallery & Exhibit
Zanah was presented to the public on February 15, 2010, to usher the Year of the Tiger–albeit with little fanfare–at the Oriental Village.

A Rarely Seen; Often Misunderstood Behavior
Visitors observing this "snarling appearance" often mistake it for one of aggression. However, when a tiger picks up the scent or scent-marking of another tiger, the tiger can enlarge its nostrils by curling its upper lip to pick-up scent better.

THE MALAYAN TIGER
Diet & Habits
The Malayan Tiger–like all other tigers–are solitary and highly territorial animals. Tigers mark their territories using claw and scent-marking. The Malayan Tiger primarily hunts wild boar and sambar deer but as the numbers of these animals decline, incidence of human-tiger conflicts have risen significantly over the last decade or so, leading to farmers killing tigers and/or authorities trapping wild tigers and sending them to zoos. Loss of habitat of tigers–and their prey–will remain the primary threat to the survival of tigers in Malaysia's wild.
